T1 SAMBA BUS (SPECIAL MODEL TYPE 24), 1962
The Samba bus is a legend. All-round glazing, tasteful two-tone paintwork, the large folding sunroof and numerous chrome decorations made it desirable to millions of fans all over the world.
It was particularly popular in the USA, where it was initially used by wealthy urban families as a second car for country trips before becoming a cult vehicle for the Woodstock generation years later – with the “Peace” sign at the front instead of the VW logo.
The Samba on display is the millionth Volkswagen Transporter.
