TYPE 3 1500 GLASS MODEL, 1960

From 1961 to 1973, alongside the Beetle (Type 1) and the Bus (Type 2), Volkswagen also offered the so-called Type 3 – the Big Beetle. It was the first genuine attempt to expand the model range towards the mid-sized segment.
The displayed glass model was made before the Type 3's market launch for trade fairs and other presentations. It showcases the engineering (boxer rear engine with twin carburettor), as well as the inner workings of the seats, doors, and roof.
